Best Maui Ziplines: Our Top 7 for 2026, Ranked Mild to Wild

  • Closest to Wailea: Maui Zipline in Waikapu, about 25 minutes away and built for first-timers
  • Best for a nervous rider: North Shore Zipline, which refunds your ticket if you stop after two lines
  • Best with teens: Jungle Zipline Maui for the setting, Skyline Kaanapali for more height
  • The big one: Kapalua Ziplines, with side-by-side lines the whole way and the longest drive from Wailea

In 2001, there were only 10 commercial zipline operations across all 50 states. Now there are 400, and 7 of them happen to be on Maui. That leaves you with plenty of options to zoom through the tropical canopy during your Maui vacation, although these adventures don’t come cheap. That’s why it’s worth doing some research to figure out which course is the best fit for your group. To that end, we’ve researched and reviewed every Maui zipline adventure, and ranked them from mild to wild.

First of all, if you’re coming from South Maui, like we usually are, you definitely want to pay attention to drive times. Kapalua is 37 miles and at least 70 minutes each way. Haiku is about an hour and Waikapu is only 25 minutes.

Next, make sure you know what you’re signing up for. One zipline on this list is a single short line on a fruit farm. Another is a three and a half hour commitment in the West Maui Mountains. Those are two very different experiences that appeal to very different visitors!

Maui Ziplines Ranked from Mild to Wild

Level 1: Paradise Eco-Adventures

This is the gentlest option on the island, and it isn’t a canopy course at all. It’s a single 450-foot line at the Maui Dragon Fruit Farm above Lahaina, which you can ride up to four times. It’s packaged with a farm tour and fruit tasting, and you can also add the Aquaball experience, where you roll down a hill inside a giant inflatable ball. (Ralph isn’t just a name. It can also be a verb.)

The zipline part of the adventure suits the most hesitant beginners or young kids who want a taste of ziplining without a half-day commitment.

  • Where: Maui Dragon Fruit Farm, 833 Punakea Loop, Lahaina
  • Drive from Wailea: About 45 minutes
  • Ages and weight: Ages 5 and up, up to 250 lbs
  • Price and time: $99.95 for the zipline package, $189.95 with the Aquaball ($169.95 for kids), the combo takes about 2.5 hours
  • The catch: It’s one short line, a long way from Wailea so it works best as a stop on a West Maui day, not a trip of its own

Level 2: Maui Zipline at Maui Tropical Plantation

If you want a real multi-line course without big heights, start here. Five side-by-side tandem lines run from 300 to 900 feet over the plantation’s lagoons, palms and working farmland. Kids can ride next to a parent the whole way. This one is also the closest course to Wailea by a wide margin, and there’s no charge for anyone who would rather walk the plantation grounds and watch from the lagoon.

From r/MauiVisitors: “If you want to try something a little more low key, check out Maui Ziplines. It’s a great beginner course.”

  • Where: Maui Tropical Plantation, Waikapu
  • Drive from Wailea: About 25 minutes
  • Ages and weight: Ages 5 and up, 45 to 230 lbs, children under 10 ride with an adult
  • Price and time: $149 per person, about 2 hours, book direct at mauizipline.com
  • The catch: Teenagers who have ziplined before may find it tame and the 230 lb limit is the lowest on this list

Level 3: North Shore Zipline

Seven lines run through tall eucalyptus trees at Camp Maui in Haiku, a former World War II training base, with platforms, towers and suspension bridges in between. The longest line is about 900 feet. Your ticket includes the small Camp Maui museum on site, which is pretty cool if you’re even a little bit into history.

This was the first zipline we ever did on Maui and it was a great place to start. It’s not the steepest or the longest zipline on the island, but it’s surrounded by beautiful jungle and we loved seeing all the old military vehicles. Pair this one with a breakfast or lunch stopover at Baked on Maui for an ideal itinerary.

What makes this our top choice for a mixed-comfort family is the “Scaredy-Cat” clause. If a rider decides after the first two lines that they’d rather not continue, North Shore Zipline will refund the full ticket price.

From r/AskTheTravelers: “Northshore Zipline is another solid option, ideal for kids. We had a wonderful time there. The guides also shared some history about the island along the way.”

  • Where: Camp Maui, Haiku
  • Drive from Wailea: About an hour
  • Ages and weight: Ages 5 and up, 40 to 270 lbs
  • Price and time: $149 for adults and $119 for ages 5 to 12, about 2 hours
  • The catch: Every line is single so you can’t ride tandem, thrill seekers may find top speeds a bit lacking

Level 4: Jungle Zipline Maui

Also in Haiku, just off the road to Hana, this course is nestled up in the rainforest canopy. There’s a tree-to-tree suspension bridge, two swinging bridges and an optional “quick jump,” a short controlled free fall. If you make the trip, be sure to book the 8-line tour instead of the 5-line option. The final zipline is the longest at 888 feet and delivers a spectacular ocean view.

Jungle Zipline accepts kids from age 6, but families with teenagers say the course has plenty of decent thrills.

From r/MauiVisitors: “Recommend doing the 8 line zipline since the last two were the best. Brief walks in between only and no hiking involved. Loved the scenery.”

  • Where: Haiku, near the start of the road to Hana
  • Drive from Wailea: About an hour
  • Ages and weight: Ages 6 and up, up to 250 lbs with a 50 lb minimum
  • Price and time: From $139 for 5 lines and $159 for 8 lines, 1.5 to 2 hours
  • The catch: The lines aren’t especially high or long

Level 5: Skyline Hawaii, Haleakala

Skyline’s original course sits on the slopes of Haleakala above Kula. Six lines cross gulches with 90-foot drops at speeds up to 45 mph, and one is a pendulum line that sends you out and swings you back. Skyline says it’s the only one like it in all of Hawaii.

In between rides, the guides keep up a steady chitchat about the native forest they’re restoring, which makes this a good pick for curious kids. Skyline is a step up in speed from the Haiku courses but we feel it’s still an acceptable first zipline for anyone 8 and older.

  • Where: 18303 Haleakala Highway, Kula, below the national park entrance
  • Drive from Wailea: About an hour
  • Ages and weight: Ages 8 and up, 60 to 260 lbs
  • Price and time: From $159.95, about 2 hours
  • The catch: It’s noticeably cooler up here than at the beach so bring an extra layer

Level 6: Skyline Hawaii, Kaanapali

Skyline’s West Maui course is the bigger of its two operations. Eight lines run down the mountain above the Kaanapali resort, up to 150 feet off the ground, with the ocean on one side and the West Maui Mountains on the other. The setting is dramatic and the 4×4 van ride up into the mountains can be its own adventure. Skyline is known for funny and engaging guides who are trained to help newer zipliners get comfortable and enjoy the experience.

From r/AskTheTravelers: “If your teens want more speed and height, Skyline Ka’anapali is a great option.”

  • Where: Kaanapali, West Maui
  • Drive from Wailea: About an hour
  • Ages and weight: Ages 10 and up, 80 to 260 lbs
  • Price and time: From $209.95, 2.5 to 3.5 hours
  • The catch: The 80 lb minimum rules out some kids

Level 7: Kapalua Ziplines

When you’re ready to step up to the major leagues, go check out Kapalua Ziplines. The full tour covers six lines and about 8,500 total linear feet of cable high in the West Maui Mountains. There’s also a 360-foot suspension bridge that’s fun to explore as an intermission about halfway through the adventure. The really special thing about Kapalua Ziplines is that every line is a dual track, so no one ever has to go alone. That makes these long and fast ziplines a bit less intimidating than their sheer size might suggest.

From r/MauiVisitors: “The entire course has dual lines, so you can go together as a couple on all the lines. They also use skydiving harnesses that are more comfortable than your standard harnesses.”

  • Where: Kapalua, at the far end of West Maui
  • Drive from Wailea: 37 miles, allow 70 minutes, more if traffic looks rough
  • Ages and weight: Ages 10 and up, 60 to 250 lbs
  • Price and time: From $198 for 4 lines and $240 for 6 lines, 2.5 to 3.5 hours
  • The catch: It’s the longest drive and the highest price on this list, but still worth it 😎

What to Know Before You Book

Wear long shorts or pants. The harness straps sit around your upper thighs. As one experienced zipliner puts it, “Long shorts or pants are better than short shorts because the harness can rub.” Closed-toe shoes are required everywhere. On the jungle courses, skip anything white.

Expect a rough ride up the mountain at Kapalua. Visitors who loved the course still mention the drive up. From r/MauiVisitors: “But don’t sit in the back of the van! That drive up is rough.”

Book a morning slot. The courses run rain or shine, but the trade winds build through the day and operators will shorten a tour when it gets too gusty. A Tripadvisor reviewer of the Kapalua tour wrote, “it got windy so we had to go from a 6 line tour to the 4 line.” Mornings give you the best chance of ziplining in ideal conditions.

You will be weighed. Weight limits are checked at check-in, and some operators don’t refund riders who fall outside the limits. If anyone in your group might be on the edge, it’s best to call before booking.

Secure your phone. Leave it in the car or in a tightly zipped pocket. Phones are slippery buggers and gravity has a way of helping them disappear into the bottomless jungle below.
